Andrea Dorfman and Tanya Davis reteam for Heartbeat

Halifax director Andrea Dorfman is reteaming with poet and songwriter Tanya Davis on the indie film Heartbeat, which is shooting through Nov. 6.

The duo in 2009 collaborated on the YouTube video How to be Alone, with Dorfman directing and animating and Davis providing the music and lyrics.

Now Dorfman, who burst on the scene in 2000 with Parsley Days, is shooting Heartbeat, a coming-of-age romantic comedy that Davis has the lead role in.

And Harper Collins is publishing later this month How to be Alone, a spin-off book authored by Dorfman and Davis.

The Heartbeat feature uses music, animation and film to follow a young woman’s rediscovery of her heartbeat.

The indie, produced by Bill Niven and Jay Dahl of Northeast Films also stars Kristin Langille, Glen Matthews, Mary Fay Coady, Jackie Torrens, Stewart Legere and Stephanie Clattenburg.

Davis did the music for Heartbeat, which is set for a theatrical release in 2014.
