Screen Media picks up worldwide rights to Tapped

Screen Media has picked up the international sales rights to writer/director Allan Ungar’s mixed martial arts thriller Tapped.

The New York-based distributor will unveil the Canadian indie, which was shot in London, Ontario, at the Toronto International Film Festival.

XYZ films is handling North America.

The Hackybox Pictures and Oriahsphere Entertainment picture stars Cody Hackman and Michael Biehn, and tells the story of a disgruntled teenager, forced to do community service at a rundown karate school, who enters an MMA tournament to face the man who killed his parents.

Tapped is an action-packed underdog story with heart. We believe it will resonate with international audiences and we’re thrilled to be representing the film,” said Michael Dwyer of Screen Media, in a statement.

The film also stars Krzysztof Soszynski (Here Comes The Boom), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid), and UFC stars Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida.

Toronto-based Ungar is also set to direct for Hackybox Pictures the action film Gridlocked, which is in pre-production.
