William F. White and SIRT test high-speed filming truck

Equipment supplier William F. White International has pacted with the Sheridan Institute for Research and Technology (SIRT) to take high-speed filming technologies on the road.

Whites and SIRT will use financial support from the Ontario Centres of Excellence to conduct research and development to launch a high-speed imaging truck in Toronto.

“This important research has the potential to provide our clients with a package truck that will ultimately enable high-speed filming at rates up to 10,000 fps,” said Dan St. Amour, White’s VP of commercial production services.

The goal is to overcome hurdles to shooting at high frame rates, including lighting flicker and arc wander, or plasmatic hot spots.

Before launching its high-speed imaging truck, Whites in October will conduct testing to ensure it can consistently deliver problem-free high-speed filming.
