New Canadian movie distributor levelFilm is launching by picking up the North American rights to Chen Kaige’s Caught in the Web.

The start-up led by David Hudakoc and Michael Baker plans to distribute 10 to 12 film titles annually.

The duo will jointly oversee acquisitions, while Baker takes care of content development.

Hudakoc came to levelFilm from Alliance Films, where he worked for four years, after earlier completing stints at Phase 4 Films and THINKFilm.

Also a THINKFilm veteran, Baker more recently consulted on acquisitions for Entertainment One Films.

Baker also runs Bunk 11 Pictures, an indie film producer.
