Principal photography begins Tuesday on Every Thing Will Be Fine, the latest feature from Pina director Wim Wenders.
The 3D feature, starring James Franco, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Marie-Josée Croze, is based on an original script by Norwegian screenwriter Bjørn Olaf Johannessen.
The film follows a writer over a period of 12 years, as he loses control of his life after a car accident.
“We are entering new narrative territory with this project. I am convinced that the medium of 3D will be able to open up an entirely new dimension of emotional closeness to our story and its protagonists,” said Wenders, who pioneered a new form of 3D storytelling with German documentary Pina, in a statement.
The film begins production on Aug. 13 in Montreal and will continue after a break in winter 2014.
Every Thing Will Be Fine is a coproduction from Neue Road Movies, Wenders and producer Gian-Piero Ringel’s prodco, Canadian indie Montauk Productions, Sweden’s Göta Film, Norway’s MER Film and ZDF/ARTE.
The production is funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Euroimages, Filmförderungsanstalt, Deutscher Filmförderfonds and the German Federal Government Representative for Cultural and Media Affairs.
Mongrel Media will release the film in Canada, while Warner Bros. Pictures will release it in Germany, both in 2014. London’s HanWay Films is the worldwide distributor.
