Montreal World Film Fest to close with Anne Fontaine’s Adore

Remstar Films has got its Anne Fontaine drama Adore to close the Montreal World Film Festival on Sept. 2.

The Sundance title, where Naomi Watts and Robin Wright play Australian women in relationships with each other’s sons, will screen in Montreal on Sept. 2, ahead of a Sept. 6 release by Exclusive Releasing in the U.S. market.

The picture is scripted by Christopher Hampton and adapted from the Doris Lessing short novel The Grandmothers.

“I hope Canadian audiences, who I know to be open-minded, will be sensitive to this portrait of particular passions,” said Fontaine in a statement, mindful of the controversy that surrounded the taboo sex drama in Sundance.

The Montreal World Film Festival is to run from Aug. 22 to Sept. 2.
