The Brendan Gleeson and Taylor Kitsch-starrer The Grand Seduction is to open the Atlantic Film Festival on Sept. 12, organizers said Tuesday.
The Max Films drama will screen in Halifax after receiving a world premiere at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.
Don McKellar stepped in to direct Grand Seduction after Ken Scott bowed out to direct DreamWorks’ remake of his hit Quebec film Starbuck.
The English-language remake of La Grande Seduction also stars Gordon Pinsent, Mary Walsh, Cathy Jones and Liane Balaban.
The Atlantic festival is ripe for Grand Seduction as the film was shot in Newfoundland, using a screenplay co-written by Scott and Michael Dowse.
Barbara Doran of Morag Loves Company and Roger Frappier of Max Films are producing.
