Greg Foster has been promoted to CEO of Imax Entertainment and senior executive vice president of Imax Corp.

Foster, most recently chairman and president of Imax Entertainment, joined Toronto-based Imax in 2001 and has been charged in recent years with ensuring a pipeline of Hollywood movies to be digitally re-mastered and released on an expanding global circuit.

“As we look to expand both our global footprint and film slate, Greg’s relationships with filmmakers, studios and exhibitors, as well as his understanding of quality, have been and will continue to be invaluable to Imax,” Imax CEO Richard Gelfond said in a statement.

Before joining Imax, Foster completed a series of executive stints at MGM/UA.
