Discovery Canada is lining up a reality show about the world of industrial shredders, commissioning Toronto’s Yap Films to make a 13-part series, featuring “shred whisperer” Lee Sage.

Entitled Shred! (pictured above), the reality series will run for seven weeks on the channel – a joint venture between Canada’s Bell Media and America’s Discovery Communications – starting on Monday (July 8) at 7 p.m.

The series follows a close-knit group of blue-collar workers at Shredding Systems Inc. in Portland, Oregon, including the aforementioned Sage, who “can fix any shredder,” along with “engineering wizard Bob McLeod; master installer Brillo Blakely; field tech Auguie Henry; big boss Tom Garnier; crusher king Dave Miller; and best friends and competitive rivals on the build shop floor, Chris Schuett and Jon Allen,” according to the net.

In each episode, the SSI team either creates a huge new machine, or adapts an existing one, to handle a major industrial shredding challenge presented to them. Items set to be shredded include military tanks, amusement parks, and football fields of old computers and electronics.

The show is exec produced by Elliott Halpern and Elizabeth Trojian, with Robin Bicknell the series producer.
