Gordon Pinsent to attend 50th anniversary Forest Rangers reunion

Toronto-based Cinespace Film Studios will host a 50th anniversary party to pay tribute to The Forest Rangers, one of the first colour TV series produced in Canada.

Among the cast and crew scheduled to attend the event at the company’s Kleinburg Studios north of Toronto is Gordon Pinsent. He played main character Sgt. Brian Scott on the CBC scripted drama which ran from 1963 to 1966, and helped establish him as a Canadian icon.

The series was lensed in and around the studio facility built by the CBC but now operated by Cinespace.

The series was sold in over 60 countries, no doubt helping to cement Canada’s international reputation as an environmental mecca. Indeed, among the attendees will be fans of the show from around the world and representatives of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, who will discuss its role in building early awareness of environmental issues.

Pinsent was named to the Playback Canadian Film and TV Hall of Fame in 2007.
