eOne expands into lifestyle licensing

In a move to expand into lifestyle licensing in the U.S. and internationally, Canadian producer and distributor Entertainment One has acquired the U.S.-based brand and licensing group Art Impressions.

The acquisition grows eOne Licensing’s U.S. operation, and grows its international lifestyle brand management business. The expansion better positions the company to handle brands across all of eOne’s divisions, including film, TV, music and family, and exploit rights across all media, eOne said Thursday.

It is also a move towards licensing brands created in the digital space, the company added.

“Lifestyle brands are being consumed by audiences around the world like never before and fans are sharing their experiences online. This creates a distinct brand awareness that we’re keen to channel. Our team is now well-positioned to develop and secure key brands that emerge from both the traditional television avenues and pop culture and digital space,” said eOne Licensing and eOne Family managing director Olivier Dumont in a statement.

California-based Art Impressions, headed up by Cindy Bailey, specializes in lifestyle brand creation, including through marketing and social media campaigns.

The company handles teen brands like SO SO Happy and Skelanimals (pictured).

“This is a transformational period for our licensing business. Cindy and the team bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our business in the lifestyle brand management world, particularly in North America, which represents 65% of their current business, and the combination of our portfolios and abilities means endless potential for growth,” Dumont added.
