Pre-production has commenced on the Winnipeg location shoot for Strings, an indie drama from Los Angeles-based Strings of Films LLC, a shingle established by the filmès writer-producer Oscar Torres and director-producer Daniel Duran.
Strings‘ screenplay was penned by Torres (Innocent Voices). For Duran, the project is his first in the feature film director’s chair.
The on-screen talent include Maria Bello (A History of Violence, Thank You for Smoking, pictured), Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class, Walk the Line), Kherington Payne (Fame, So You Think You Can Dance) with Jae Head (Hancock, The Blind Side) and Sharlene Taule (Grachi) in supporting roles.
In addition to Torres and Duran the film’s producers are Danny Rodriguez (Mooz-Lum) and Phyllis Laing.
The story follows a prominent New York City DJ who, after an overdose and run-in with the law, must move to a small town to live with his father, from whom he is estranged. He eventually discovers a new, more fulfilling purpose in life.
Principal photography is set to begin on June 9.
