Toronto-based distributor KinoSmith has picked up the Canadian rights for The Venice Syndrome; Work Hard, Play Hard (pictured); and Documentarian from London-based sales and production company Taskovski Films.

The Venice Syndrome, produced by FilmTank and directed by Andreas Pichler, tells the story of the mass tourism that is devouring the city of Venice, and what life is really like for Venetians. Taskovski Films recently sold the doc to Taiwanese Cineplex.

In Hupe Films’ Work Hard, Play Hard, director Carmen Losmann looks at the working conditions of the high-tech work force, with all of its physical, psychological and economic consequences.

Documentarian, directed by Ivars Zviedris and Inese Klava, tells the story of an eccentric woman who lives in the moorlands of Kemeri in Latvia. She doesn’t own a television but knows media well, and has a love/hate relationship with the camera.

All three will be released theatrically across Canada throughout the year.
