Women in Film and Television – Toronto has announced the teams that will participate in its 2013 development incubator program.

The four-day program offers emerging and mid-career producer-writer teams from across the country a chance to deepen their knowledge of the feature film business (writing, financing, marketing and distribution) through small group sessions and one-on-one consultations with creative and business experts.

To gain entry to the program, teams must have a feature-length project in development, and be willing to take the feedback they receive to advance their projects to the next level.

The teams in the 2013 program are as follows:

  • Goonworks Films’ Geoff Redknapp and Katie Weekley with their script Extraction (Vancouver)
  • Alcina Pictures’ Spencer Maybee and Tara Woodbury with First Comes Love (Toronto)
  • Lifeguard Productions’ James Fanizza and Farah Merani with Goodnight, Amherst (Toronto)
  • Urbansoul Inc.’s Shaun Boyd and Sharon Lewis with Halfway (Toronto)
  • Arid Sea Films’ Lea Nakonechny and Simon Nakonechny with Nowhere Road (Montreal)
  • True West Films’ Marie Clements and Elizabeth Yake with Red Snow (Vancouver)
  • Renuka Jeyapalan with Sex With the Perfect Stranger (Toronto)

Geoff Redknapp and Katie Weekley also received WIFT-T’s Janet Crystal Yorga Memorial Bursary, which covers round-trip economy flights and full program fees. The bursary is awarded to a producer-writer team from Western Canada with at least one female team member.
