The Vancouver Animation School has launched a program advisory committee (PAC) with industry experts from Prime Focus World, Pixar Canada and Twenty One, Inc.
The new members of the PAC are Prime Focus World’s Cassandra Nelson; Pixar Canada artist Raine Anderson and Twenty One Inc. CEO Jericca Cleland.
The committee will provide feedback to ensure that the school and curriculum remain “cutting edge and applicable to the rapidly changing needs of the animation industry,” VANAS said in a statement.
The members will meet with VANAS founder and CEO Mario Pochat regularly to discuss the state of the Vancouver animation industry, needs for training, and what positions are needed in studios.
Nelson, of VFX and stereo 3D conversion company Prime Focus World, has worked extensively in HR and recruiting for the VFX industry, while Pixar Canada’s Anderson’s credits include Avatar, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Adventures of Tintin and X-Men; and Cleland, whose Twenty One Inc. provides development and pre-production services, is a former Pixar cinematographer who has worked on films like Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo and Escape from Planet Earth.
