Entertainment One has done a multi-territory deal for the big screen Princess Diana biopic Diana, which stars Naomi Watts (pictured).
The distributor has acquired the U.S. rights to Oliver Hirschbiegel’s portrait of the last two years of the British icon’s life from Embankment Films and Ecosse Films.
Entertainment One will also distribute Diana in the U.K., Canada and Spain.
Currently in post-production, Diana is produced by Ecosse Films’ Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Diana home from Cannes,” said Dylan Wiley, vice president of theatrical marketing and distribution at Entertainment One Films U.S., in a statement.
The deal was negotiated by Tim Haslam, the former head of Hanway Films, for Embankment Films and Ecosse Films and Jo Sweby for eOne.
