Bell Media’s TSN and RDS have extended Canadian TV contract with the United States Tennis Association for the U.S. Open tennis tournament for another 11 years.
TSN has aired the top U.S. tournament since it launched in 1984.
The new deal from 2015 is notable for ESPN recently snagging the U.S. rights to the tournament from CBS.
That means TSN and RDS will for the first time offer exclusive Canadian coverage of the U.S. Open finals.
“The U.S. Open is one those special events in sports – with the world’s best players competing in prime time under the bright lights of New York City. We are thrilled to extend our long-standing partnership with the USTA for another 11 years,” said Shawn Redmond, vice president of programming at TSN in a statement.
