eOne joins Amy Poehler-produced TV scripted comedy

Entertainment One has unveiled it is on board Welcome to Sweden, a half-hour scripted comedy from Syskon, a new production shingle actor Amy Poehler has opened with her brother Greg, and Swedish producer FLX and broadcaster TV4.

Entertainment One is pitching the series to U.S. broadcasters and cable networks.

The series will be shot in Sweden and New York with production set begin on Monday.

The series is billed as a fish out of water comedy based on Greg Poehler ‘s real-life experiences. It recounts the antics of a New York accountant who travels to Sweden after falling for a Swedish woman. The role represents Greg’s debut acting gig.

It also stars Josephine Bornebusch (Solsidan), Lena Olin (Chocolat, The Ninth Gate), Illeana Douglas (Easy to Assemble, Grace of My Heart) and Patrick Duffy (Dallas)

Welcome to Sweden was created by Greg Poehler. The executive producers include both Poehlers; Fredrik Arefalk for TV4; Carrie Stein, eOne’s exec VP of global production; and for FLX director Felix Herngren (creator of Solsidan).

Parks and Rec, the comedy series starring Amy Poehler, was renewed by NBC for a sixth season on Thursday.
