David Cronenberg has added Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams and newcomer Evan Bird to the cast for Maps to the Stars ahead of the sales launch of the thriller in Cannes.
Cronenberg found Bird for the role of Benjie, a troubled, drug-addicted child star, while Williams will play Cristina his manipulative mother.
And Wasikowska will perform the role of Benjie’s sister Agatha, his disfigured, schizophrenic, fame-obsessed sister.
They join an already announced ensemble cast that includes Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Sarah Gadon and Robert Pattinson.
Entertainment One and Prospero Pictures are jointly financing Maps to the Stars, which is set to begin production this July in Toronto and Los Angeles.
Prospero Pictures’ Martin Katz and SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd will produce the picture.
Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab, Cronenberg’s manager, will executive produce, as will Entertainment One’s Benedict Carver.
Entertainment One Films International, which has worldwide rights to Cronenberg’s latest film, will shop Maps to the Stars starting in Cannes.
