Cover Me Canada format heads to China

Beijing’s Enlight Media is to produce a Chinese version of entertainment reality format Cover Me Canada (pictured).

Originally produced by Toronto’s Temple Street and based on a format co-developed by 11 Television and the CBC, the competition show challenges undiscovered bands to cover a local chart-topping artist in a bid to avoid elimination.

Cover Me Canada is the perfect show for Chinese audiences and it is already generating a lot of interest with local advertisers and broadcasters,” said Chloe Yang, Enlight’s director of marketing. “We are sure the show will be a huge success here in China.”

The deal was brokered by distributor Eccho Rights. Enlight Media has produced Chinese versions of international formats such as China’s Got Talent, X Factor China and Clash of the Choirs.
