eOne, Prospero co-financing Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars

Entertainment One and Martin Katz’s Prospero Pictures are co-financing David Cronenberg’s upcoming thriller Maps to the Stars.

The film stars Julianne Moore, John Cusack, and Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon, who both previously starred in Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis.

Maps to the Stars, a broadside against the celebrity-obsessed society of L.A., portrays two child actors ruined by Hollywood’s depravity.

L.A. author and screenwriter Bruce Wagner wrote the original screenplay, which is being produced by Prospero’s Martin Katz with SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd. Katz previously collaborated with Cronenberg on Spider, A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis.

Cronenberg’s manager, Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab, is executive producing, as is eOne’s Benedict Carver, with Integral Films’ Alfred Hurmer co-producing.

Tab is also a previous Cronenberg collaborator, having exec produced Cosmopolis and played a role in bringing A History of Violence and Eastern Promises to Cronenberg when representing him as an agent at ICM.

eOne will handle worldwide sales and distribution in all media, and will launch the project in Cannes.

Maps to the Stars is slated to begin production in July in Toronto and L.A.
