NSI adds Telus’ Prem Gill to board

Telus director of content Prem Gill has joined the National Screen Institute’s board of directors, the organization said Wednesday.

Gill directs Telus’ Optik TV VOD storefront on all screens, and drives development of local programming initiatives in B.C. and Alberta for Optik Local, Telus’ community television contribution.

“[Gill’s] dedication to emerging screen creators and quality content, and her excellent reputation in the industry will be an asset to the organization. She also gives another Western Canadian voice to the board,” said NSI board co-chairs Brad Pelman and Raja Khanna in a statement.

Gill previously worked with the NSI through its Drama Prize course. She previously worked for almost a decade at CHUM Limited, most recently as director of regulatory affairs. She has also worked as director of public affairs and multi-cultural programming at City Vancouver, where she supervised production of local shows like CityCooks and CineCity.

She joins other NSI board members including Cinecoup president Pelman, Blue Ant Media CEO of TV and digital Khanna, APTN CEO Jean LaRose and NBCUniversal Television Canada EVP and GM Ron Suter.
