Yorkton Film Festival unveils best director noms

The organizers of Saskatchewan’s Yorkton Film Festival unveiled the nominations in the best director categories late last week.

Numerous other nominations were announced in late March. The full list is found here. The festival is from May 23 to 26.

Nominated in the fiction categories are Corvus, directed by Darcy Van Poelgeest (LIS entertainment), Foxed!, directed by  James Stewart and Nev Bezaire (Geneva Film; pictured), inSAYSHAble, directed by Jeff Beesley (Minds Eye Entertainment) and The First Days, directed by H. Mauricio Carvajal (Hulo Films).

Nominated in the non-fiction category are Let the Daylight into the Swamp, directed by Jeffrey St. Jules (National Film Board of Canada), Portrait as a Random Act of Violence, directed by Randall Okita, Surviving The Teenage Brain, directed by Elise Swerhone (Merit Motion Pictures), The Ghosts In Our Machine, directed by Liz Marshall (Ghosts Media) and The Portrait, directed by Hubert Davis (National Film Board of Canada).

Yorkton is 170 KM north-east of Regina.
