Copper adds Alfre Woodard to cast

Cineflix Studios has added Alfre Woodard (Steel Magnolias, Twelve Years a Slave, True Blood) to its second season cast for Copper, now shooting in Toronto.

The Emmy award-winner joins the cast as a former slave looking to reconcile her past against hope for a future in 1865 New York City.

Woodard is the latest talent addition to Copper after earlier second season casting of Donal Logue and guest stars Eamonn Walker, Lee Tergesen and Andrew Howard.

Returning cast includes Tom Weston-Jones, Kyle Schmid, Anastasia Griffith, Franka Potente and Tessa Thompson (For Colored Girls, Heroes).

Copper, which airs on Showcase in Canada and BBC America in the U.S., is executive produced by Sherri Rufh, Sam Berliner,  Katherine Buck and Larysa Kondracki, who also directs.

The series is shooting in Toronto through July 2013.
