Space’s new Orphan Black series drew 404,000 viewers for its debut Saturday night.

That made the sci-fi series the highest-rated original series premiere ever for the channel.

The Tatiana Maslany-starring cloning drama got a good lead-in from the return of Doctor Who at 8 p.m. as it averaged 654,000 viewers.

Space said almost 900,000 viewers watched some or all of Orphan Black, and its debut alongside the return of Dr. Who turbocharged visits to Space.ca on Saturday.
