Tricon to bring IFC scripted comedy Maron to MIPTV

Tricon Films and Television says it will give an international launch to the new IFC scripted comedy series Maron (10×30′) at this year’s MIPTV.

Tricon, which is the exclusive worldwide distributor of IFC’s slate of original scripted comedies, unveiled the news recently.

Maron is to premiere on IFC on May 3.

Based on comedian and podcaster Marc Maron’s life and WTF podcast, it chronicle’s his day-to-day struggle to maintain his relationships. Maron leads a cast that includes Judd Hirsch, Nora Zehetner, Andy Kindler and Josh Brener. Guest appearances include Mark Duplass, Illeana Douglas, Dave Foley, Jeff Garlin and Gina Gershon, among many others.

Maron is the shows creator, executive producer and writer. Denis Leary and Jim Serpico are also executive producers, along with Michael Jamin, Sivert Glarum, Duncan Birmingham and Olivia Wingate.

Maron is produced for IFC by Fox Television Studios. Series’ directors include Luke Matheny, who is a co-executive producer, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Robert Cohen.

Tricon is also shopping new series EA Sports Game Time, Donut Showdown, produced by Toronto-based Architect Films for Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada’s Disaster Decks, A Bryk at a Time, Holliston, Zoo Clues and On the Spot at MIPTV.
