The True Heroines launching online

Vancouver-produced web series The True Heroines kicks off today, with future episodes to be released weekly via YouTube and on the series’ website.

The show, promoted as an “episodic sci-fi musical dramedy,” is about three seemingly normal 1950’s housewives who also have superpowers. The women elude the evil corporation who gave them their superpowers, while flashing back to their former lives as cabaret dancers.

The True Heroines stars Fiona Vroom (Supernatural), Jovanna Huguet (Package Deal) and Paula Giroday (Once Upon a Time).

The trio previously worked together performing weekly Cabaret shows for almost two years before deciding to bridge the gap between cabaret and the screen with the True Heroines project.

The series cast also includes Ali Liebert (Bomb Girls), Neil Grayston (Warehouse 13), Daniel Cudmore (Twilight Saga), Gina Chiarelli, Zak Santiago, Leah Gibson (Arctic Air) and Brendan Penny (Motive).

The series is written and produced by Nicholas Carella and directed and produced by Michelle Ouellet, both of Sociable Films, with co-creator Joel Sturrock on board as choreographer.
