Klei Entertainment’s Mark of the Ninja leads the finalists with 11 nominations in this year’s Canadian Videogame Awards, announced earlier this week and happening Apr. 20 in Vancouver.
Vancouver-based Klei recently announced that it would release a special edition of the side-scrolling stealth ninja game, which will be available as DLC on Xbox Live Arcade and Steam. Mark of the Ninja was published by Microsoft Studios.
Klei’s 2D side-scrolling Shank 2, published by Electronic Arts, is also a finalist for best indie game.
Minority Media’s Papa & Yo is up for awards in several categories, including game of the year, best game innovation, best indie game, and the Future Shop Fan’s Choice Award.
Queasy Games’ Sound Shapes is also nominated for game on the go, audio, game design, game innovation, best indie game, original music and the Future Shop Fan’s Choice Award.
Other finalists include Eden Industries’ Waveform, in categories including downloadable game, game innovation, and best indie game; and United Front Games/Square Enix’s open world action-adventure game Sleeping Dogs, in categories including console game, animation and original music.
Along with Mark of the Ninja and Papa and Yo, Ubisoft Montreal’s Assassin’s Creed III, Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 and Ubisoft’s Far Cry are up for game of the year.

The awards will be handed out on Sat. Apr. 20 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in conjunction with Fan Expo Vancouver.
