Numerous Canadian screen-entertainment properties, Canadian serviced Hollywood films – and one local production company – are in the running for the seventh annual Constellation Awards.
The awards, to honour the best in sci-fi fare, are handed out by the not-for-profit TCON Promotional Society. The nominations were first announced during Toronto’s ComiCon last weekend. Fans have until June 1 to cast the ballots, with the winners being unveiled in Toronto on June 22.
Shaftesbury is in the running in the category of Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or TV in 2012. It’s up against Continuum, Lost Girl, Supernatural and Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, creators of Primeval: New World.
Shaftesbury’s recent credits in the niche include The Listener.
Continuum and Primeval: New World are all multiple nominees.
Hollywood titles that were co-produced or had post-production or VFX work done north of the border to secure nominations include The Cabin in the Woods, Snow White And The Huntsman, Fringe and Arrow.
While Vancouver-based mini-studio Lionsgate’s Twilight franchise didn’t make the cut, its Hunger Games is nominated.
