Ricky, Julian and Bubbles launch online network

Mike Smith, Robb Wells, and John Paul Tremblay, best known as Trailer Park Boys characters Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, are launching SwearNet, a subscription-based online video network.

Wells described the site as “an internet-based network set up like a regular TV network where everyone swears whether it is a news show or cooking show,” in a statement provided to Playback.

To help promote the site’s launch, the trio – performing as Ricky, Julian and Bubbles – are holding a special live pay per view event Saturday at  8 P.M. EST. As part of the event, fans can submit videos of themselves “swearing and ranting” to Swear Idol, an online contest. The ten best entries will be broadcast live on the show and a winner will be chosen to fly to Nova Scotia and appear in a video with the boys.

Smith, Wells, and Tremblay have amassed a strong online following, not only from the Trailer Park Boys projects but also Drunk and On Drugs Happy Funtime Hour.

Fans can pre-buy access to the event’s live-stream for $4.20, or purchase a platinum annual membership to the site for $49.99. The premium offer gives members first access to tickets to live shows and movie screenings as well as the ability to Skype with the boys on www.swearnet.com.

“Every penny we make from this event goes back into creating content for Swearnet.com” added Wells. “We want Swearnet to be like a regular TV network but everyone on it will talk the way people normally talk.”
