Lionsgate names Andrew Kramer COO, international distribution

Canadian mini-studio Lionsgate has named Andrew Kramer as chief operating officer, international distribution.

The announcement came Tuesday from Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman, to whom Kramer will report. He will also work with Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Steve Beeks

Kramer, working with Wachsberger, will focus on growing the company’s international film business, including international film acquisitions and packaging, sourcing international copro and cofinancing opportunities and extending Lionsgate’s relationships into new territories.

He will also oversee international film distribution and marketing operations, business affairs and the division’s overall administration.

Kramer moves over from The Weinstein Company, where he has been serving as president, business and legal affairs, and general counsel for the past seven years. There, he managed business and legal affairs for TWC and Dimension Films’ feature film and TV productions and TWC’s output arrangements, and managed business affairs for TWC feature film productions, including the recent Silver Linings Playbook and Django Unchained.

He previously worked as EVP, business affairs and operations at Warner Independent Pictures.

Kramer will joins Lionsgate in April when his current contract at TWC expires.
