Berkshire takes Canadian rights to How to Make Money Selling Drugs doc

Berkshire Axis Media Distribution has picked up the Canadian rights to the theatrical documentary How to Make Money Selling Drugs.

The deal for so-called “war on drugs” expose with Lightning Entertainment follows a debut for the indie doc at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.

Matthew Cooke’s documentary has interviews with 50 Cent, Arianna Huffington, Woody Harrelson and drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross.

Lightning first started selling How to Make Money Selling Drugs from Bert Marcus Productions at the American Film Market.

Tribeca Films is releasing the documentary in the U.S. market.

The Canadian deal was negotiated on behalf of Berkshire by Iain Taylor, and Mathilde Epstein and Alexandra Cocean for Lightning.

Sisters in Arms

Elsewhere, Vancouver producer BFIdeas Productions has inked a deal with U.S. distributor Women Make Movies to release its documentary Sisters in Arms south of the border.

The Canadian film, by director and co-producer Beth Freeman, portrays three women in the military and on the frontlines in Afghanistan.

Sisters in Arms was produced in association with Knowledge, and is co-produced by Cari Green (The Corporation, Scared Sacred).
