FremantleMedia acquires Family Harmony

Global producer-distributor FremantleMedia has picked up the singing competition Family Harmony (Un Air de Famille), its first acquisition from Quebec.

Created and produced by Attraction Images, in collaboration with Radio-Canada, Family Harmony will be part of FremantleMedia’s slate available at MIPTV in April, before it’s rolled out to global audiences through FremantleMedia’s network of prodcos.

In the format, teams of families are trained by celebrity singers, and each week three families perform popular songs. The winning families, decided by viewer votes, sing in the live finale, with hopes of being named “the nation’s greatest singing family.”

Airing on Radio-Canada in Quebec, ratings for Un Air de Famille grew by more than 42% through the course of the series, according to FremantleMedia. It was renewed for a second season.

“It’s a warm, inclusive, feel-good format celebrating a family’s relationships as much as their talents, and it’s exactly right for today’s television schedule,” said Rob Clark, director of global entertainment development for FremantleMedia. “We are very much looking forward to bringing local versions of Family Harmony to audiences around the world.”
