Director Warren P. Sonoda’s latest feature project is the comedy Jake Joins a Cult.
The announcement came on Saturday as Sonoda (Textuality, Verdict) received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal commemorating his contribution to Canadian film.
Jake Joins a Cult follows a man and his two best friends who are lured into a raunchy sex cult as they attempt to escape their mundane lives. They discover that the cult is actually a front for a dangerous money-making scheme, and must rise up against the diabolical scheme.
The film features comedy troupe Nocturnal Emissions and is written by the troupe’s co-creator Keith Cooper.
Justin Kelly (Deadweight, The Seder) of Timshel Pictures is producing the film, slated to begin shooting later this year in Northern Ontario.
