Canadian indie studio and distributor Entertainment One has inked a raft of deals for Latin America post-NATPE, including for homegrown series Primeval: New World (pictured), Saving Hope and Todd and the Book of Pure Evil.
“Latin America continues to be a thriving market hungry for top-notch content which eOne can easily provide,” said eOne Television International EVP Valerie Cabrera in a statement.
eOne also sold drama series The Firm, doc series Private Parties and women’s erotica dramatic series Bliss into the territory.
The company also recently announced a multi-year first-look film financing and distribution agreement with 1984 Private Defense Contractors in the U.S.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to attach the industry’s most sought-after independeint producers to our multi-territory infrastructure and finance projects in new and resourceful ways that largely contribute to the making of great pictures,” said eOne global film topper Patrice Theroux in a statement.
As part of expanding its global pipeline, eOne will have a first-look at financing and distributing all 1984 films.
eOne will distribute the 1984 films in Canada, U.K., Benelux, Spain and Australia, while the company’s foreign sales arm will handle the rest of the world. CAA will handle U.S. rights to the 1984 slate.
1984’s recent films include The Grey, Dredd 3D and Killing Them Softly. Included on its slate for 2013 is gangster thriller Corsica ’72, from Skyfall writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.
1984 is headed up by Adi Shankar, with whom eOne has a pre-existing relationship for several TV drama and reality projects, and Spencer Silna. eOne’s Benedict Carver and Lara Thompson will oversee the deal for eOne.
Nelson Kuo-Lee and Dina Appleton negotiated the deal for eOne, while Robb Klein of Sheppard Mullin represented 1984.
