eOne takes rights to Philippe Falardeau’s The Good Lie

Entertainment One has inked a multi-territory rights deal for Philippe Falardeau’s The Good Lie, which stars Reese Witherspoon (pictured).

The Canadian distributor will release the film in the U.K., Spain, Benelux and Australia/New Zealand.

Lionsgate International is selling The Good Lie worldwide, as it tells the story of a young Sudanese Civil War refugee who relocates to the U.S. with three other lost boys and develop an unlikely friendship with a brash American woman, played by Witherspoon, charged with helping them.

Written by Margaret Nagle (Boardwalk Empire), Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are producing The Good Lie, along with Molly Smith and Karen Kahela Sherwood.

Entertainment One’s Lara Thompson, executive vice president of filmed entertainment, negotiated the deal with Lionsgate International.
