Never mind the power outage: Sunday night’s tight Super Bowl match-up between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers pulled in 7.33 million viewers for CTV and RDS, according to BBM Canada data.
This year’s Super Bowl ratings didn’t beat the 8.2 million viewers that tuned in to last year’s game when the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots.
But, as the second-largest Super Bowl audience for CTV, this year’s contest with its Ravens win saw just over half of Canadians watch some or all of the broadcast.
And 9.4 million viewers saw the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show.
Also good news for CTV was the 35-minute power outage delay didn’t spoil the debut of Motive in the prized post-Super Bowl slot.
The homegrown cop drama from Lark Productions and Foundation Features premiered with an average audience of 1.23 million Canadians.
Motive, which stars Kristin Lehman and Louis Ferreira, will slide into the Sunday night 9 p.m. slot on CTV.
