National Geographic Channel is heading to the American South once again, with the help of a Canadian production company.

The U.S. cable net has greenlit two pilots of Okies vs. Aliens from Toronto-based Shark Teeth Films. The show follows the exploits of Bobby Sparks Jr. and Sr. and their team of nuisance control experts as they travel through Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana in search of “menacing invasive species.” Some of the “aliens” they come into contact with include feral hogs, nutria, and the occasional mute swan – a species that can apparently be quite nasty when provoked.

“Bobby and his crew of Okies – these authentic, larger-than-life exterminators – are giving our cameras exclusive access into their world and their battle against ‘alien invaders,'” said Charlie Parsons, vice president, programming and development, National Geographic Channel. “By partnering with expert storytellers, such as Shark Teeth Films, we hope to keep viewers entertained and intrigued, ultimately identifying and relating to this world.”

“National Geographic is one of the world’s most respected channels for factual programming and we are delighted to be producing this exciting new show. Okies vs. Aliens is going to take viewers on a wild and entertaining ride,” added Shark Teeth co-owners and exec producers Adrian Carter and Tom Mudd.

Production for the pilots begins this week, with shooting commencing in Texas and Oklahoma. No air date for the pilots has been announced as of yet.
