Emily Carr University of Art + Design’s S3D Centre and the International 3D Society are set to host 3D[FWD], a conference about the business of 3D.
The Jan. 24 and 25 conference will bring together leaders from several industries, including healthcare, advertising, entertainment and digital media to discuss the impact of 3D technology today and in the future.
The discussions will further showcase how 3D can be used as a business tool, with 3D execs from Hollywood, London and Canada weighing in on 3D films, 3DTVs and stereoscopic consumer products launching in the marketplace.
Conference speakers include Sony Pictures Studios exec director Grant Anderson, Pixar director of production Josh Hollander, Disney Animation Studios stereographic supervisor Robert Neuman, and director/producer James Stewart of Toronto-based Geneva Film Co.
Stewart was also recently tapped to head up TATE USA’s 3D division, T-3D, a co-operative venture dedicated to producing 3D content for the ad world.
The first Canadian chapter of the International 3D Society, based out of Vancouver, was launched in November.
The chapter will kick off its launch by co-hosting the 3D[FWD] conference with founding chapter member Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
“The Society has been working for almost a year to join our 3D colleagues in Canada with other 3D leaders worldwide. This new Canadian chapter will connect professionals and organizations active in 3D’s exciting future, with Society members in Hollywood, Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, London, Brussels and other creative centres in 20 countries worldwide,” said president of the International 3D Society Jim Chabin in a statement at launch time.
