Toronto-based Shark Teeth Films has been given a green light for High Tech Rednecks, from Discovery World in Canada and MAVTV in the U.S.

The 8 x one-hour factual series follows the exploits of owner Bob Woodcock and his employees at Critter Gitters, as company that manufactures “big, bad and innovative” automotive builds.

This marks the biggest investment in original programming to date for MAVTV – a movies, action and variety cable channel offered in the U.S. – the network said.

High Tech Rednecks (pictured above) will broadcast later this year on both networks, with Discovery World’s Stan Lipsey and MAVTV’s Jason Patison serving as broadcast executives in charge of production, and Shark Teeth Films’ Adrian Carter and Tom Mudd acting as executive producers.

Shark Teeth Films has just wrapped production on another pilot for Discovery Canada, Lowcountry Raiders, which is set to air this winter.

The hour-long pilot focuses on three teams of fossil divers who brave dangerous waters to find archaeological treasures in America’s Lowcountry, the coastal regions of South Carolina and Georgia. Discovery Canada’s Bruce Glawson is in charge of production, while Carter and Mudd are exec producers.

“It’s exciting to have two shows with the Discovery Canada family, and also have such strong support from MAVTV in the United States,” said Tom Mudd and Adrian Carter, co-owners of Shark Teeth Films, in a joint statement.
