Indiecan Entertainment takes movies to mobile world

Avi Federgreen is putting film-goers in touch with his movie slate.

Federgreen’s Indiecan Entertainment has launched a mobile application that allows smartphones to get the word out about current and upcoming Indiecan releases, or order DVDs.

Mobile apps for film lovers like GetGlue and Movies by Flixster tend to flag cinema times or offer information about cast members.

Federgreen said his Indiecan app for smartphones and tablets is the first to be launched by a Canadian indie distributor.

“With the internet and social media, mobile applications are becoming more important as each day goes by,” he said in a statement Monday.

The smartphone and tablet app will also allow consumers to order merchandise, including DVDs, tap into Indiecan’s Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts, and link to corporate websites.

The app was designed by Walter Scott of Enlivener Productions, and can be downloaded for iPads, and the iPhone, Android, Windows and Blackberry devices.
