Canuck screenwriter Rob Sheridan developing comedy series for ABC

L.A.-based Canadian screenwriter Rob Sheridan has inked a script deal with U.S. comedian and TV writer Hannibal Buress to develop a single-cam comedy series for ABC Studios.

The series, tentatively titled My Name is Hannibal, will be loosely based on the comedian’s stand-up content.

Buress will play the lead character, who moves from Iowa to Chicago and joins a college town police force. The series will follow his challenges in balancing adulthood with his urge to remain an overgrown kid.

Sheridan will exec produce and co-write the script with Buress.

Dave Becky of 3 Arts will also exec produce.

Sheridan’s Canadian credits include Corner Gas, Less Than Kind, 18 to Life and Naked Josh. He has also worked on CBS’ Mad Love and NBC’s Next Caller Please.

He is repped by WME and managed by Glenn Cockburn of Meridian Artists.
