The latest program additions to Netflix Canada include the fourth season of Arrested Development, the Fox comedy that went off air in 2006 and will return exclusively on Netflix.
The first three seasons of the sitcom about a dysfunctional family, the Bluths, already stream on Netflix Canada.
After five years off the air, Netflix in November 2011 said that it would resurrect the U.S. sitcom as part of an exclusive deal for the U.S. market.
A year later, the U.S. video streaming giant said the returning sitcom would also stream in Canada for its local subscribers.
“With the excitement surrounding the return of Arrested Development, we are thrilled to premiere the new season of the show in Canada at the same time as we launch it in the U.S.,” Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said in a statement Monday.
“Our Canadian members have welcomed us since our arrival and we are proud to be able to continue adding a great mix of Canadian, Hollywood and international shows and movies to our Canadian service,” he added.
Sitcom creator Mitch Hurwitz, Troy Miller, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo are executive producers on the upcoming fourth season of Arrested Development, which is to be produced by Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox Television for the U.S. video streaming giant.
The new season will feature appearances by Conan O’Brien, Andy Richter, John Slattery, Henry Winkler and Isla Fisher.
