NSI announces Features First teams

The National Screen Institute has announced four teams to its 10-month Features First training course.

Daniel Dolphin and the Horn of the Sea Dragon, produced by Carmen Forsberg and written and directed by Adam Mars of Vancouver; The Dark Stranger, produced by Glen Wood and written and directed by Chris Trebilcock of Toronto; Masks, produced by Alex Molenaar and written and directed by Peter Genoway of Toronto; and Two 4 One, produced by Kalli Paakspuu and written and directed by Maureen Bradley, of Toronto and Victoria, respectively, were selected.

The Features First program is a development training launch pad for teams who want to produce their first or second features with strong commercial appeal.

The teams will be paired with exec producer mentors and story editors to help with final development and packaging of their projects.

They will also be eligible for the Jim Murphy Filmmakers Bursary, a $3,000 award for the team that develops an integrated and inventive marketing plan in the first phase of training.
