International kids television channel KidsCo has licensed five new shows from Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana.
Beyblade, Grossology, Rolie Polie Olie, Jacob Two-Two and Babar will make up part of the channel’s January 2013 schedule when the refreshed brand debuts on-air.
“2012 has been a year of content and dubbing investment for KidsCo, withour 2013 programming lineup looking stronger than ever. Working closely with our strategic shareholders, Corus Entertainment and NBCUniversal, we will be delivering a completely refreshed on-air look and much stronger content proposition from Jan. 8. Our new Nelvana titles will mean that our valued affiliates can continue to deliver a compelling range of KidsCo’s safe, feel-good and diverse content to audiences worldwide,” said KidsCo managing director Hendrick McDermott in a statement.
KidsCo also recently commissioned Australia-based Matchbox Pictures to produce Zuzu and the Supernuffs, slated to air in all KidsCo territories in 2013.
Kidsco is a joint venture owned by NBCUniversal and Toronto-based Corus Entertainment.
The channel for pre-schoolers, kids ages six to 10 and families is distributed to satellite, cable and IPTV platforms across Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
