Don’t Get Killed in Alaska in production

The first feature from Laura Perlmutter and Andrew Nicholas McCann Smith’s First Love Films, Don’t Get Killed in Alaska, has begun production.

The film is director Bill Taylor’s debut feature.

Don’t Get Killed in Alaska follows a young woman who, along with a significant other who has big ambitions for their lives, faces family tensions as she starts a new life.

The film stars Tommie-Amber Pirie in the lead role, with Rosemary Dunsmore, Oliver Dennis, Ben Lewis and Gianpaolo Venuta.

Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films exec producer, and Ben Lichty (i am a good person/i am a bad person, Blood Pressures) is DOP.

First Love Films co-founders Perlmutter and McCann Smith premiered their short film Dear Scavengers at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. They are also in production on A Trip to the Island, an ACTRA co-op film directed by Hrant Alianak, and for which they’re running an indiegogo campaign.

Don’t Get Killed in Alaska is funded by the Canada and Ontario Arts Council, and is shooting in Picton and Toronto, Ontario through to Nov. 18.
