Nomadic Pictures co-founders in talks to produce Copper

Calgary-based Nomadic Pictures is on a roll.

AMC earlier this week renewed for a third season the Alberta-shot series Hell on Wheels, which comes from Endemol, Entertainment One and Nomadic Pictures.

And now comes word Nomadic Pictures co-founders Mike Frislev and Chad Oakes are in discussions with Cineflix Studios to be hired to oversee production on the BBC America and Showcase drama Copper, according to a Cineflix Media spokesperson.

The scripted drama was recently renewed for a second season, with another 13 episodes to air in 2013.

Cineflix Studios produces Copper, in association with BBC America and Shaw Media.

The cop drama, executive produced by Barry Levinson and Tom Fontana, is set in 1860s New York City and focuses on an Irish immigrant cop played by Tom Weston-Jones.

Brad van Arragon, a producer on the first season of Copper, is prepping movie Hector and the Search for Happiness for Screen Siren Pictures in Vancouver.
