Lionsgate has formed a new output deal with Metropolitan Filmexport for distribution of Lionsgate titles in France, it was announced Wednesday.
The news follows a slew of recent output arrangements by Lionsgate. Those pacts were with StudioCanal in Germany, Nordisk Films in Scandinavia, Alliance’s Aurum Producciones S.A. in Spain and Roadshow Films in Australia. Lionsgate also recently extended its self-distribution partnership with IDC in Latin America.
“We’re pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Metropolitan by creating an output agreement in this key territory,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairmen Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman. “Lionsgate has collaborated successfully with Metropolitan in France in releasing all of our major titles in recent years, including the first film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise. We look forward to continuing that partnership with the entire Lionsgate slate, increasing the longterm visibility of our international theatrical business.”
The Metropolitan Filmexport deal was orchestrated for Lionsgate by Wachsberger and Lionsgate executive VP International Legal and Business Affairs Michael Meyer.
