The organizers of the Super Channel Feature Documentary Award are about to open the submission process for the prize that offers an opportunity for two documentary director-producer teams with hour-long TV works to their names to make the jump into feature-length documentaries.
The submission window opens Oct. 19 and closes Nov. 23 at 5 P.M Mountain Standard Time.
The winners will each receive 15 to 20 hours of mentoring from a senior feature doc producer and $3,000 earmarked for attending next year’s Hot Docs Forum in Toronto. The winning teams will be unveiled in December, after which time they will work with the mentors to prepare their pitches. The winners will attend the forum as observes and so have informal access to potential broadcasters, executive producers and potential partners.
More information about the award, eligibility, and submission requirements is available here.
This is the third time the award is being offered. The 2011 winners were Melanie Wood and Greg Masuda, the producer-director team behind Goddess of Mercy, and Michelle Mason, the producer-director of A Song for Carlos.
Hot Docs is set to run Apr. 25 to May 5, 2013.
