Corus Entertainment has promoted Maria Hale to vice president of television, and head of digital and content distribution.

Hale was most recently vice president of television, head of programming and production, a job now filled by John MacDonald, who returns to Canada after serving as chief operating officer and executive vice president programming for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network.

Hale and MacDonald will report to Doug Murphy, executive vice president and president of television at Corus Entertainment.

The move combines the broadcaster’s digital and interactive activities with its TV division.

“These new executive appointments and related structural changes will position Corus Television well to compete in our dynamic and competitive media marketplace in Canada,” said Doug Murphy in a statement.
